Handmade Beaded Wedding Veil – For Marissa

April 4, 2014

I am proud to say Marissa is our daughter-in-law.  She married our son Jon in May 2013.  It was a gorgeous outdoor ceremony in beautiful San Diego at Balboa Park.  I was honored when she asked me to make her wedding veil.  This would be a first for me and I must say I loved every minute of it!  Marissa was such a beautiful bride and we are so lucky to have her in our family!

This post is loaded with pictures.  I have included pattern information and a supply list.
I have also provided a link and an instructional YouTube video that I found helpful.

P.S. At the end of the post there is an additional slideshow featuring Mr. & Mrs. Adams…

Pattern C was close to the length we were looking for and it fit the style Marissa wanted.  She knew she wanted it shoulder length.  I shortened the pattern and created a mock-up out of a scrap piece of cotton fabric to ensure we had the right shape, size, length and flow to the veil.  This was an important step because we were working long distance with each other and we had only one fitting and sizing opportunity.

Everything on this veil is hand sewn. I first sewed the clear tube beads in a zigzag pattern around the outside edge. Then I sewed the pearl beads and sequins in an alternating pattern. It took a little time and patience to develop the sewing technique to make sure the beads were secure without puckering.
