Meet The Maker & Her Team
a beautiful life
Welcome, I am an arts & crafts maker with over 40 years of crafting experience. I love to create with a variety of materials, including yarn, textiles, paint, recycled, and vintage furniture. My husband and I grew up in Redding, CA. We met our junior year of high school and have been married for 37 years. We currently live in Shasta Lake, CA. In the house that my husband’s grandpa built after he finished working on the construction of Shasta Dam, which is just 4 miles from our home. Our kids live in San Diego, California. We have a grandchild, Evangeline Elizabeth; She is my inspiration, my muse, and we love making art together! In July 2018, our community rocked to its core due to the Carr Fire. Devastation impacted many of our family and friends.
My craft board is FULL of projects that I can’t wait to share! I served as the Instructional Adviser for the local chapter of the 4-H Quilting Club. Working with the kids in the 4-H program was incredibly rewarding. I love paying it forward and watching the youth of today become the next crafting entrepreneurs of tomorrow! I am happiest when spending time with family and friends. I try to be an honest and hardworking individual. I like to keep busy and pursue my goals wholeheartedly.
There are many influential people, past and present who are my role models, mentors, friends, and family that are in my corner and inspire me to be my best. First and foremost, I would say my mother, who I lost in my early thirties to cancer. She was the one who taught me to be a maker. We would sew and hunt for pine cones to make wreaths; we would make candy and bake together. She helped me make the floral arrangements for my wedding, prepared the food for the reception, all while working 40+ hours a week. My dad, who passed in 2018, was not always around while I was growing up. However, as an adult and through the last decade, I was able to spend precious time with him. He would watch me crochet my Amigurumi characters, and he would delight in bragging about my talents to his friends, or anyone he met for that matter. He always made me feel like he was my biggest fan. My husband and best friend, Brian, encourages me to go for my dreams, no matter how silly they may sound. He listens and has learned to help me when I am in a creative quandary. Then, there is my son, Jon, and his wife, Marissa. Jon is my go-to guy when I need sound advice. He is my editor, my conscious, financial, and creative advisor. Marissa is so talented with music, art, and her teaching talents are so inspiring, to be patient with others, and kind to our environment. My daughter, Ashley, is my spirit animal. She is my design consultant, my health coach, and fashion specialist. I have to include my sister, Lori C. in this group of inspiring people, she is like my second mother. We have endless conversations about books, art, decor, life’s struggles and successes, health, quilts, gardening, yarn, material, our dreams, retirement; you name it, we talk about it! Lastly, I would like to include my lifelong friend, Lori L. The teenage girl who walked across the street to meet the new girl in the neighborhood, which was me. Lori L. is a maker, a photographer, and the funniest person I know. We text daily talking about current events, crafts, entertainment, food, diets, exercise, the weather, family, our dogs. She will send me Amy Pohler GIFs of encouragement. Lori inspires me and encourages me to take risks and reach for the stars.
High school sweethearts and still best friends.
I create and he is responsible for everything else.Well... Almost everything!
Maker’s Message – “Most of my projects are for local clients, family, friends and the never-ending personal project board. Occasionally I do have items for sale. If you see something you love, I may be able to duplicate it. No two items are the same because they are handmade. “Cheers and Best Wishes”
